Vanessa Trien Introduces Brand New MonkeyJump Music and Movement Classes in Brookline, MA!

Happy New Year, my friends!  As some of you know, I took a break this fall after ten glorious years of teaching Music Together music and movement classes to Brookline families. I continue to teach early childhood music and movement for Brookline's BEEP program and other preschools, but many Brookline families have approached me to ask when I might start teaching parent/child music classes again. I deeply miss my classes where I got to work with families and encourage a community of friends through shared musical experiences. Sooooo.... (drum roll please!)

I am now formulating new ideas for my own music and movement classes, to be called MonkeyJump Music and Movement!  Classes will be taught by little ole' me for up to twelve families with children (and siblings) ages 0-4. MonkeyJump classes will consist of an original ritual hello and goodbye song; small and large movement activities; instrument play; props including puppets, scarves, ribbons, parachute, bubbles, and more; and plenty of singing and bonding with your child, using both original songs and traditional songs that represent various cultures.  My longtime background in early childhood music education and M.Ed in Education (Harvard '96) qualifies me to develop and run this program but I think what sets me apart is my genuine LOVE for making music with young children and their families and my ability to connect with kids on their level in a fun and relaxed musical atmosphere.

As I develop my curriculum, I am offering four classes, taking place the second Tuesday of each month for a limited time (January 12, February 9, March 8 and April 12), at Brookline Village's Golden Chickpea Center where families can register for individual classes or receive a discount for registering for all four.  Due to the exciting playspace nature of Golden Chickpea, these four classes will have a unique format:  9:30-10 am Open Play Time at Golden Chickpea; 10:00-10:45 am MonkeyJump Music Class; and 10:45-11:00 am wind down, free play and chatting time with friends.

Golden Chickpea will be handling registrations so to register for one or more classes, please visit their website at

Beginning soon, MonkeyJump Music classes will be offered weekly on a semester basis.  But for now, PLEASE join me on this journey as I take baby steps toward my own music program by offering these four once-a-month classes, hosted this time around with Cecilia Caballero and the Golden Chickpea Center in the heart of Brookline Village.  A wonderful opportunity during this New England winter to enjoy Golden Chickpea's playspace, meet new and old friends, and try out my new, interactive music program for families!  Please do continue to take Music Together classes with GroovyBabyMusic, I highly support and love this program, but I hope you will consider enhancing your musical bonding time with your child by also giving MonkeyJump music a try!

And please share this letter with friends!  For any questions or suggestions you may have about my new MonkeyJump Music classes or upcoming shows with the Jumping Monkeys (a separate newsletter will be sent out shortly about shows), please feel free to email me at, and visit my website, for all the latest.

Thank you so much for your continued support of my musical and educational endeavors!  I wish you and your family a warm and wonderful New Year.
Here's to 2016!

Best wishes,
Vanessa Trien
